Now most of you might think that to go and watch a footie match that starts at 10pm is a little crazy. Add to that fact that the game in question was on a cold Wednesday, that FC Barcelona were playing against a modest little outfit from the Spanish town of Ceuta, that the Catalan giants had won the first leg 2-0, most of the top stars wouldn’t be there and it was broadcast live on local TV and you might conclude that ‘a little crazy’ is a bit of an understatement.

Well here in Catalonia we do crazy. We let off fireworks in all directions in the street, make huge wobbly towers of people and put a three year old on top and romp around the Pyrenees mountains picking mushrooms that may or may not kill you when you eat them. But turning out on a cold work night to watch a football game that is on in every bar and house in the city, that is just bonkers!

So we went. Barcelona scored two goals in the first seven minutes and the fabulously named Ceuta goalkeeper, Fock, looked like he played for the Craggy Island XI rather than a pro outfit. Barca manager Pep Guardiola then delighted the fans in the second half by putting on superstar Lionel Messi. All this was a bit too much for the visitors and as the final whistle blew just before midnight they had lost 5-1 and finished with only 10 men on the pitch.

Loads of goals, seeing Messi, Pedro, Bojan etc., a Mexican wave, some bloke getting lynched because he waved his Real Madrid flag, a sending off and a penalty, all for 13€. Now who is bonkers?
