Just a quick update as promised. The Catalans managed to overcome the L.A. Lakers 92-88 in the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona last night. 16,236 fans packed the arena to see the current N.B.A. champs in action against the European title holders.

Local boy Pau Gasol topped the L.A. scoring, total bagging 25pts, whilst Pete Mickael (26pts) and Juan Carlos Navarro (25pts), helped Barça to home victory.

Both teams looked a bit ragged at times and L.A. superstar Kobe Bryant is still along way from his best after his knee surgery, but that didn’t stop the home fans from enjoying a fabulous nights entertainment.

To celebrate the game, in La Avenida Reina Mariá Cristina, there is the N.B.A. Fan Zone, which is open to all. Using the Palau Nacional as a backdrop, there are various stalls and courts, allowing wannabe hoopsters a chance to dunk, dribble and drain basketballs to their hearts content.
